Selectin Antagonism

Selectins are a family of glycan protein binding cell adhesion molecules (C-lectins), consisting of three structurally similar proteins (E-, P-, L-selectin). Selectins play an important role in the inflammation cascade leading to vascular adhesion and activation of different leukocytes allowing their extravasation from the bloodstream into the inflamed tissue.

The inhibition of selectins by Bimosiamose and Revotars New Generation compounds is expected to be an efficient approach in the therapy of inflammatory diseases.
